To meet the technical investigation requirements of public security and intelligence agencies, it is necessary to obtain accurate location information of mobile phone users within a specified area. The airborne drone IMSI Catcher is a mobile phone positioning product that integrates advanced technologies in the wireless communications field. It is a police device tailored for security investigators to locate criminal suspects.
The vehicle‑mounted IMSI Catcher primarily uses wireless communication means to accurately locate a target mobile phone without affecting the user’s normal communication. Its performance is particularly outstanding in densely populated cities and high‑rise buildings. The device is easy to carry and operate. It works with relevant 4G/5G wireless communication protocols. After obtaining the approximate area of the target phone, the device is turned on to scan nearby operator base stations to acquire their system parameters. It then configures its working environment based on those parameters, and the target phone’s IMSI is entered into the target list via the APP.
The device actively transmits signals and lures nearby mobile phones to update their location to the IMSI Catcher. The IMSI Catcher searches for the IMSI value(s) of one or multiple target phones and monitors the uplink and downlink signals to detect the user’s signal strength. It measures the wireless signal strength emitted by the target phone, approaches the target phone based on signal strength, and uses secure signaling so that the target phone is unknowingly lured to the IMSI catcher. Then, a portable field strength meter is used to obtain the direction of the target phone, ultimately locking its actual position accurately.
Phone detection – Supports IMSI acquisition of mobile phones in full frequency bands.
Positioning – When a target is detected, the IMSI number is displayed in red on the companion application, and the user can approach the target phone following the app prompts. The portable field strength meter allows precise positioning.
Scanning and synchronization – Supports automatic scanning upon power‑on, automatic over‑the‑air (OTA) synchronization, and GPS synchronization.
Smart configuration – Supports automatic calculation of frequency, PCI, and TAC.
Voice broadcast – The companion application can broadcast signal field strength values by voice.
Collision analysis – The companion application supports collision analysis.
